The Zelda argument is hilarious, because Zelda has simple combat, not bad. So you've got two games that are decent on their own, but would be incredible if combined, and nothing is preventing that combination except one dev doesn't know how to build a world and the other doesn't know how to build a combat system. And much like Skyrim, Dragon's Dogma's awful world was not integral to the experience, it simply wasn't the focus. You bolt that into Skyrim and you've got a game of the generation. So slow floaty garbage combat where enemies don't react to hits and everything feels like mushy nonsense is integral to the design? Really, if that is your basis for a bad game then every Zelda game is a bad game, and so many other beloved games/series. A more sophisticated combat system would require reducing so much about the world which is what people love about those games. ![]() The combat is perfect for what the ES games are trying to set up for the player. I've never understood this argument against the games.
